The Bailey House and museum was built in 1833 and museum was named after the home of the missionary teacher Edward Bailey. The house was built on the royal compound of Kahekili, last ruling chief of Maui and is now home to the Maui Historical Society and Hale Hōʻikeʻike. It
The museum houses a 2000-piece artifact collection dating as far back to pre-recorded times and displays the culture of pre-contact Hawaii. Archives include maps, manuscripts, genealogies, biographies, and the documents of various organizations and businesses.
